Sink the 8 ball

What a great night of pool at Alati for the finals of the double Elimination doubles with some great games of pool.

The first game was on the winners side of the draw between Stefan and Johno from Crazy spoon against Gerry and Sandy from Renegades with Stefan and Johno winning.

The second game in the winners side was between Tony and Noel from Chalkies Deltas against Dave and Danny from Alati with Tony and Noel winning.

With Gerry and Sandy joining Dave and Danny in the losers side of the draw where Ray and Giles from Alati with James and Keith Crazy spoon were waiting.

The first game was between Danny and Dave against James and Keith with Dave and Danny winning a close game and James and Keith leaving the competition having lost two lives.

The second game on the losers side of the draw was between Sandy and Gerry against Ray and Giles with Sandy and Gerry advancing to the next round with Ray and Giles exiting the competition having lost two games.

On the winning side of the draw Stefan and Johno beat Tony and Noel in a tight game with Stefan and Johno moving into the final having not lost a match.

On the losers side of the draw Dave and Danny beat Gerry and Sandy with Gerry and Sandy leaving the competition after losing two games.

Danny and Dave were now joined by Tony and Noel with Dave and Danny reaching the final against Stefan and Johno so Tony and Noel, having lost two games left the competition.

The final was a great exhibition of pool with Dave and Danny beating Stefan and Johno but as this was the first game that Stefan and Johno had lost there was another match to decide the champions.

Even though players had been knocked out many stayed for the deciding match.

With both team winning a game it came down to one final frame and after Johno potted the white and Stefan offered his had in acknowledgement of defeat but Johno told him not to. Dave rolled the black ball down the cushion and  over the top pocket and then Danny potted the black and we all held our breath as the white ball slowly made its way up the table and fell in the pocket giving the game to and Johno.

It was a sad ending to a great game but these things happen.

Well done to all the players for playing the game in a sportsmanship manner with only one decision questioned and both as teams agreed that the game should be a re-rack as it was a clear error.
